Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026. This policy describes how Cartrize (we, us, or our) handles information when you use cartrize.com, our web application, and the optional Cartrize Chrome extension.
Overview
Cartrize helps registered members create comparison projects for cars and real estate. You can upload listing files, capture listing detail pages with our Chrome extension, extract structured fields with Google Gemini, edit rows in a spreadsheet-like workspace, and export results from your browser.
Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account identifier (sub), email address, and display name from the openid, email, and profile scopes. We do not request access to Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Calendar, Contacts, Photos, or other Google Workspace content through sign-in.
When you sign in with email, we collect the email address you submit so we can send a one-time magic link. We store that address as your account identifier (for example email:you@example.com).
Project and sheet data
When you create a project, we store the project name, category (car or real estate), and your sheet state (rows, columns, and edits) in our database so you can return to your comparison later. This data is tied to your account.
Listing content you submit for conversion
When you run Convert, the content you submit — such as PDFs, images, text files, spreadsheets, or HTML snapshots from captured listing pages — is sent from your browser to our servers for processing. We transmit relevant content to Google Gemini to extract structured fields for your sheet. We may retain server logs related to processing for a limited time for security, debugging, and capacity planning.
Chrome extension capture
If you install the Cartrize Chrome extension, it runs only when you explicitly choose to capture the page you are viewing. The extension uses Chrome's activeTabpermission to read that tab's URL and build an HTML snapshot, then delivers it to an open Cartrize project workspace in your browser. The extension does not continuously monitor your browsing. After handoff, further processing happens under this policy on the Cartrize website.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use HTTP-only session cookies to keep you signed in for up to about 30 days. Short-lived cookies may be set during Google OAuth or email sign-in flows. We may also use analytics or similar technologies to understand traffic and improve the product. Third-party tools, if enabled, may set their own cookies under their policies.
How we use information
- Authenticate you and maintain your account.
- Store and sync your comparison projects and sheet edits.
- Process uploads and page captures you choose to convert, including sending relevant content to Google Gemini to produce structured rows.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve Cartrize.
- Respond to support requests and legal obligations.
We do not sell your documents or account information. We do not use your content to train public models beyond what our AI provider's API terms permit for service operation.
Exports stay in your browser
After extraction, downloadable files such as CSV, Excel, PDF, and JSON are generated in your browser using client-side code (including WebAssembly where used). Those generated export files are not uploaded back to us as part of normal export.
How we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us operate Cartrize — for example cloud hosting, database providers, email delivery for magic links, and Google's Gemini API for extraction — and only as needed to provide the service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
Google user data
Cartrize's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- Google sign-in: we use Google profile data only to authenticate you, maintain your account, and associate your projects with your account. We do not use it for advertising or unrelated profiling.
- Storage: we store your Google account identifier as part of your internal user id (for example
google:), your email in our account database, and your name and email in an encrypted session cookie while you are signed in. We do not store Google OAuth refresh tokens for normal sign-in. - Google Gemini API: conversion uses a server-side API key, not your personal Google OAuth tokens. Content you submit for conversion is sent to Gemini solely to perform the extraction you request.
- Revoking access:you can sign out in Cartrize at any time. To remove Cartrize's access to your Google account, use your Google Account permissions page (myaccount.google.com/permissions) and remove Cartrize.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and project data while your account is active so you can continue your comparisons. You may delete projects from your dashboard. To request account deletion or ask us to remove stored data, email support@cartrize.com. We may retain limited records where required by law or for legitimate business needs such as fraud prevention.
Your choices
Do not upload or capture content you are not allowed to share. Do not submit sensitive personal data you are not comfortable sending to our systems and our AI provider. Use a current browser and keep it updated for local export features to work reliably.
Each conversion batch may include up to 3 files, with each file up to 50 MB.
Children
Cartrize is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International users
Cartrize is operated from the United States. If you use the service from other regions, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page from time to time. Material changes may be signaled on the site. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
